"Making a Difference...One Patient at a Time."

The Army is introducing a new way for Families and friends to communicate with their loved ones who are deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

Beginning 1 December 2009 the Army will launch "HooahMail" as a pilot program for fast, easy, secure, letter-style correspondence to OEF deployed Soldiers. Based on a proven system used by the Marine Corps since 2003, HooahMail brings another method to keep in touch with military members in Afghanistan. From Stateside, HooahMail offers a computer based process which will generate a printed, sealed, letter-style document for direct delivery to forward operating bases throughout the OEF area of operations. This one-way system will allow secure download capabilities at selected OEF remote sites. These letters will then be printed on special equipment which will print, fold, seal and address the envelope for free delivery to OEF Soldiers. HooahMail will be distributed just like regular mail through unit mail-rooms. At sites which don't get daily postal mail service, HooahMail will offer a free, convenient way to communicate. This method could reduce delivery time in some cases from 14+ days to remote locations to same/next day service, with an average 4 days to all other locations in Afghanistan. HooahMail will augment traditional postal letter mail service.

Funded by Department of the Army, and supported by the current postal command structure, HooahMail offers a new and exciting way to strengthen communications to our OEF Soldiers. For more information about HooahMail visit their website at www.hooahmail.us. For your convenience we have posted the attached flyer in the Download Center under HooahMail on ArmyFRG.org .

BOSS members,

As the Holiday season approaches we have very little "fun stuff" on our schedule, and after speaking to SSgt Peterson and Lora Lee this morning we have come up with a couple ideas. I know that a lot of us are traveling for X-mas, but for those of us that are staying behind we are thinking about sponsoring a ski/snowboard package to Hidden Valley. This would continue at least one a month until the season is over. This event is still under consideration but I wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone would be interested in this.

If there are any other ideas on ways to spend all that cash we have, please shoot me an email and me and SSgt Peterson can do some research on how much it would cost BOSS, and so on and we can bring it up at the next meeting.

This private-public partnership will provide thousands of Missourians with the technology knowledge, skills and/or certifications to succeed in our developing technology-based economy. These vouchers are being made available to Missourians through the Missouri Division of Workforce Development.

In addition to being a Missouri resident, individuals wishing to apply for a voucher must be—or become—a registered MissouriCareerSource user. New TRICARE Video Counseling Can Help Military Families See “Eye-to-Eye” with Their Problems Nov. 6, 2009

FALLS CHURCH, Va. - November is the Month of the Military Family, but military families face stress all year long. It doesn’t hurt to get help.

From deployment worries to strained relationships to dealing with a tragedy, TRICARE is testing a new video counseling service to help military members and families see “eye-to-eye” with their problems. The TRICARE Assistance Program (TRIAP) is just one of several ways to get convenient, confidential help through a licensed behavioral health counselor.

Services are available to any active duty service member (ADSM) in the United States, their spouse, and other eligible family members 18 years of age or older. All that’s needed is a computer, Webcam and the associated software.

TRIAP “visits” are unlimited and include assessments, short-term counseling and, if the TRIAP counselor determines more specialized care is necessary, referral to a more comprehensive level of care. Get details and get linked up to the appropriate TRICARE region at http://www.tricare.mil/TRIAP links.govdelivery.com:80/track?type=click&enid=bWFpbGluZ2lkPTYzMDA4MSZtZXNzYWdlaWQ9UFJELUJVTC02MzAwODEmZGF0YWJhc2VpZD0xMDAxJnNlcmlhbD0xMjE1NjAzMzQyJmVtYWlsaWQ9dHJhY3kuYS5hbmRlcnNvbkBtaWxpdGFyeW9uZXNvdXJjZS5jb20mdXNlcmlkPXRyYWN5LmEuYW5kZXJzb25AbWlsaXRhcnlvbmVzb3VyY2UuY29tJmV4dHJhPSYmJg==&&&101&&&http://www.tricare.mil/TRIAP> .

The program is also open to those military members in the Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP) or to members of the Selected Reserve who are in the TRICARE Reserve Select plan.

Help is also available to military families through dozens of other options: online, phone and face-to-face. Click to http://www.tricare.mil/mentalhealth for additional TRICARE mental health benefits information, links, programs, assistance phone numbers and downloads, including the comprehensive “A TRICARE Guide: Understanding Behavioral Health Care.”

Assistance with other behavioral health services and appointments is also available by phone. In the South Region, ADSMs and family members should call the Humana Military Behavioral Health Provider Locator and Appointment Assistance Line at 1-877-298-3514. All other South Region beneficiaries can call 1-800-700-8646.

In TRICARE’s North Region, ADSMs and family members can call Health Net’s Behavioral Health Provider Locator and Appointment Assistance Line at 1-877-747-9579 during business hours. All other North Region beneficiaries should call 1-877-TRICARE (1-877-874-2273).

In the West Region, all beneficiaries can call TriWest’s Behavioral Health Contact Center at 1-888-TRIWEST (1-888-874-9378) for appointment assistance 24/7.

Note from 4 Nov FRG Mtg

11 November is Veterans Day. MAJ Hubbard motioned that we use some of our money to buy 2 Wii Bowling Balls for the Vet's home in St. James. Everyone agreed that would be appropriate.

15 November: NFL Game. Saints vs Rams. Tickets should be here soon for those who requested them and will be distributed.

Thanksgiving:
  • At 0500 soldiers will have a Thanksgiving run. Family members are welcome to cheer on or participate if desired.

  • December 9 1400-1700

Christmas party with Santa: Date TBD. Each year we have to wait until dates are known for other installation parties before we can schedule our own. Stay tuned.

Ski Trip: January 18 (MLK Day--it is a Monday). This will be at Hidden Valley in Eureka, MO. Stay tuned for more details.

Dining Boat: In March, we will be having an event for soldiers and their spouses/significant others. It will be a dinner cruise at the Lake of the Ozarks. Currently, the venue holds 95 people. However, if there is a greater interest we will look for a larger venue. Cost is TBD. Also, there will be an option to stay at a hotel room at the Lake for around $70 for the night so individuals are not concerned with traveling home that night. Please leave a comment on this post or send an email to 787mpbn@gmail.com or to MAJ Hubbard (scott.p.hubbard@conus.army.mil) if you are interested.
